LeBron James is inviting us all to the super def, throw-down jiz-zam of the year.

The Cleveland Cavaliers superstar’s television and film production company SpringHill Entertainment is producing a reboot of early 1990s film franchise House Party, according to Tatiana Siegel of The Hollywood Reporter.

“This is definitely not a reboot. It’s an entirely new look for a classic movie,” James told The Hollywood Reporter. “Everyone I grew up with loved House Party. To partner with this creative team to bring a new House Party to a new generation is unbelievable.”

The screenplay, according to Siegel, will be written by FX comedy Atlanta’s Stephen Glover and Jamal Olori.

Beginning with the titular House Party, the franchise spanned four films from 1990-1994 with House Party 2, Class Act and House Party 3. A direct-to-DVD fifth instalment in the series, House Party: Tonight’s the Night, also came out in 2013.

Each film in the series has starred 1980s and 90s hip-hop act “Kid n’ Play,” whose popularity boomed in part because of the film franchise and, in particular, one dance scene from the first film.

This scene certainly stuck with James as he was featured in a commercial for State Farm re-enacting the famous dance duet.

The 33-year-old James isn’t just keeping himself busy producing film projects, he also stars in them. The four-time NBA MVP lent his voice to upcoming animated film Smallfoot, in which he plays a yeti.

Now, if only he’d get on with that rumoured Space Jam remake. Now that would be my type of hype.
