The Devils beat Flyers, 5-4, in a shootout.
PHILADELPHIA — The Devils beat the Flyers, 5-4, in a shootout after Taylor Hall tied the game for the Devils with a 6-on-5 goal late in regulation on Tuesday at the Wells Fargo Center.
Hall forced overtime for the Devils when he collected a rebound from the left circle and scored on a quick shot into an open net. His second of the game came with goalie Keith Kinkaid pulled.
In the shootout, Kinkaid stopped Flyers forward Jordan Weal on the first attempt before Kyle Palmieri missed for the Devils. Travis Konecy also had his shot saved by Kinkaid.
Devils forward Drew Stafford scored in the second round, and Kinkaid made a save on Jakub Voracek to end the game.
The Devils snapped a four-game losing streak, and the Flyers had their four-game winning streak ended.
Hall missed most of the second period when was hurt in the process of tying the game at 1-1 with his first of the game, extending his point streak to 15 straight games.
The forward fired a sharp-angled shot from the bottom of the left circle, and as he released it, Flyers defenseman Radko Gudas sent Hall flying into the boards. With Hall’s body opened up by his shot, he hit the boards with his back and his head.
Hall’s helmet came flying off on the hit, and he stayed down on the ice for a few moments before trainers came to his aid. He skated off under his own power at the 4:06 mark of the second period. He did not play the rest of the period, but he returned to the bench to start the third.
