Sixers’ Markelle Fultz was seen shooting around before a game against the Miami Heat on Wednesday night from outside the paint, which he hadn’t done much previously.
PHILADELPHIA — Markelle Fultz sat alongside Sixers assistant coach Billy Lange pregame, on the bench as his teammates T.J. McConnell, Richaun Holmes and Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot put up warm-up jumpers for Wednesday night’s game against the Heat.
After a few minutes, Fultz stood up and stretched, cracked a joke to Luwawu-Cabarrot, jokingly tossed a ball at Holmes as he worked on his free throws before, finally, working on some shooting … from outside the paint.
It was the first time this week Fultz had been seen in front of cameras this week after multiple stories were published detailing his situation — he’s been out since October as he’s dealt with both shoulder issues and concerns related to alterations on his shot — and all the turmoil going on behind-the-scenes.
Last week, Sixers general manager Bryan Colangelo told the media that Fultz’s current shooting range did not extend outside of the paint. In the brief moments media has had access to Fultz, at the end of practice and in pre-game warm-ups, the No. 1 pick had mostly been working on free throws, drives and shots closer to the basket than the three-point line.
Wednesday, Fultz worked with Lange on some jumpers (video above) beyond the free throw line.
