Nelson ranks fifth on the Packers’ all-time receiving list with 7848 yards. He has spent his entire nine-year career in Green Bay.
The 32-year-old struggled in 2017, especially after Aaron Rodgers went down with an injury in the sixth game of the season. He scored six touchdowns last season with all of them coming before Rodgers broke his collarbone. Nelson posted just 482 yards receiving for the campaign after eclipsing 1,200 in each of the previous three years.
Green Bay saves $10.2 million in cap space by releasing Nelson.
