TV picks for Tuesday, March 13
“The Middle” (8 p.m., ABC): While Frankie feels the need to have a good cry after having a bad week, Mike shares the good news that, after 25 years as manager at the local quarry, he is being offered the job of regional manager but feels uncomfortable saying goodbye to his co-workers.
“This Is Us” (9 p.m., NBC): Oh wow, did Season 2 of this heartfelt family drama put us through the emotional wringer. We watched Kevin struggle with substance abuse and Randall and Beth take on the highs and lows of foster parenting with Deja. And, of course, on Super Bowl Sunday, we turned into blubbering wrecks as we dealt with Jack’s death. Now comes the season finale — titled “The Wedding.” Hopefully that means there will be good vibes all around, but we’re not counting on it.
“Bull” (9 p.m., CBS): Bull agrees to help Chunk’s daughter, Anna (Jazzy Wiliams), when her journalism professor,Chloe (Nikki M. James), is sued by a dating app developer for trying to steal data for an exposé she’s writing about sexual assault cover-ups. But the stakes are raised when the company alleges that she actually stole proprietary information and intended to sell it to a competitor.
“Black Lightning” (9 p.m., The CW): In “Training Day,” Black Lightning works with Anissa to help find information to clear his name. Lynn goes to Gambi, hoping to find answers. Meanwhile, Jennifer is taken by surprise.
“Rise” (10 p.m., NBC): In this heartfelt new high school musical drama, Josh Radnor (“How I met Your Mother”) plays a stuck-in-a-rut English teacher who is given a chance to take over the school’s lackluster theater department. Then, a “Spring Awakening” basically happens.
“For the People” (10 p.m., ABC): Are you ready for another legal drama from …read more
