BAYONNE — A 27-year-old Bayville resident was arrested after bringing a stolen handgun to the La Tinaja Lounge, police said.
On March 4, officers were called to the bar on a report that a man had placed a handgun on the bar counter, leaving it there for sometime before putting it back in his waistband, authorities said.
The man, Ian Foley, had left the bar by the time officers arrived, but video footage showed him leaving with a woman. Police determined they drove to the area of 30th Street and Prospect Avenue, police said.
After interviews and an investigation, officers apprehended Foley and determined he secured the handgun in the woman’s trunk. After receiving consent from the woman, police were able to locate and retrieve a .40 caliber handgun and a magazine loaded with 12 bullets, authorities said.
The gun was reported stolen out of Alabama in 2004, police said.
Foley was arrested Monday and charged with unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, receiving stolen property, and certain persons not to possess a firearm, police said.
