Police were called Monday to a report of a barricaded person in the area of Boiling Avenue and Paterson Avenue in East Rutherford

A police standoff with an armed person in downtown East Rutherford Monday forced the lockdown of a school, businesses and office buildings, police said.

Members of the Bergen County regional SWAT team, along with East Rutherford police were called about 11:30 a.m. to the area of Paterson Avenue near Boiling Springs Avenue near City Hall, police said.

Alfred S. Faust Intermediate School and Borough Hall were placed on lockdown, police said.

East Rutherford police Lt. Chris Conforti said additional details were not immediately available as the standoff was ongoing.
