Community Treasures and Miss Chevenne’s School of Etiquette are giving hope to high school students who don’t have the money to afford prom outfits.

Community Treasures and Miss Chevenne’s School of Etiquette are giving hope to high school students who don’t have the money to afford prom outfits.

The community group and the school are holding a “prom giveaway” event April 20 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Mary McLeod Bethune Life Center, 140 Martin Luther King Dr.

Tina Nalls, who heads Community Treasures, said every sort of item will be available for free, from pocketbooks, shoes and dresses for the girls, to shoes, suits and ties for the boys.

Nalls said the event is still looking for more donations. Businesses and residents who want to donate can drop the items at Assemblywoman Angela McKnight’s office at 2324 Kennedy Blvd., Jersey City; AngelaCares office, 696, Ocean Ave.; and 450 MLK Drive.

Donations will be accepted up until the event.
