Taylor Hall gave an MVP performance to give the Devils playoff life.

Hall finished with one goal and two assists, including the pass to set up Stefan Noesen’s game-winning goal at 12:55 of the third period to give the Devils a 5-2 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 3 of the first round the Stanley Cup Playoffs on Monday at Prudential Center.

Noesen blasted in a one-timer from the left circle off a Hall pass to give the Devils a 3-2 lead, their first in three games. They now trail the Lighting 2-1 in the best-of-seven series.

Blake Coleman raced to a puck along the boards in front of the Devils’ bench and chipped a long shot into an empty net with 57.3 seconds to play for a 4-2 lead, and Ben Lovejoy added another empty netter with 38 seconds left.

Hall also scored in the second period to tie the game 1-1 before setting up a Will Butcher goal to tie it 2-2 in the third.

Goalie Cory Schneider stepped into his first postseason start and stopped 34 of 36 shots. He made a series of saves from his back with the game tied 2-2 in the third period, where he appeared injured. After being slow to get off the ice, he stayed in the game.
