It was the next-to-last week of the short “Dancing With the Stars: Athletes.” The individual dances by the six remaining couples in this semifinal were dedicated by each athlete to his or her MVP (most valuable person). So, viewers needed to have a box of tissues by their sides for the emotional packages prior to the dances.
The show was loaded with guests, including guest judge David Ross, former catcher of the Chicago Cubs and Season 24 contestant. There were also three guest star “mentors” — Meryl Davis of Season 18, Nastia Liukin of Season 20 and Von Miller of Season 24 — to show off their dance moves and offer a few words of advice. Besides individual dances, the six remaining athletes engaged in “Ballroom Battles” to add extra points to their scores.
In the show’s final moments, the three couples who would be dancing in next week’s final were announced. First were Adam Rippon and Jenna Johnson, and second were Tonya Harding and Sasha Farber — it looks like Tonya has come a long way toward winning the hearts of the viewers.
The third couple was a real surprise … Josh Norman and Sharna Burgess were in, and Mirai Nagasu and Alan Bersten, once considered a shoo-in for the Mirrorball Trophy, were eliminated, along with Jennie Finch Daigle and Keo Motsepe, and Chris Mazdzer and Witney Carson.
1. There’s no getting around the fact that Adam is incredibly talented and that he and Jenna have an unbelievable chemistry between them. The pair danced a contemporary routine that was dedicated to his mom and detailed a lot of his personal history. The moves were amazing and if judge Len Goodman hadn’t been so picky about what he called “stop, start and spiky” moves, they would have received a perfect score of 40. …read more
