Fire heavily damages historic Cape May church

A downed electrical wire sparked the blaze, officials reported. A downed electrical pole touched off a 2-alarm fire that heavily damaged a Cape May church Saturday. A commercial vehicle snagged guy wires from a utility pole in front of the historic Allen African Methodist Episcopal Church around 11:30 a.m., city fire officials reported, causing electrical wires to fall onto the building.
