The Supreme Court of Canada has decided not to hear an appeal on a ruling about random drug testing in Alberta.

Suncor Energy began testing staff at its oilsands operations in safety-sensitive jobs six years ago. The union argued the drug testing infringed on the privacy of staff. An arbitration tribunal allowed the union’s grievance, but an Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench ruling quashed that decision, prompting the union to appeal to the Supreme Court.
