The biggest weekend for Denver’s LGBTQ community is here.
PrideFest is set for Saturday and Sunday and has an array of events and shows to check out. But as always, there are a bunch of other Pride events around the city, ranging from crosswalk strut-offs to dance parties (and at least one without booze).
Don’t know what to check out? We’ve got a crash course. So play some Troye Sivan or Hayley Kiyoko, put on your best Pride look and hop in a rideshare to one of these Pride parties this weekend.
Although PrideFest doesn’t officially kick off until Saturday, several places are starting early.
Drag queens will be strutting Broadway’s ewly minted rainbow crosswalk from 6 to 9 p.m. for Buffalo Exchange’s sixth annual Crosswalk Walk Off. Queens compete against one another by strutting across the street at Broadway and East Irvington Place as if it were a runway — but only during the walk signal.
After, head over to Tracks Denver at 3500 Walnut St. for PrideFest’s official Women’s Party put on by Babes Around Denver. Last year, more than 1,900 guests attended. The 21-and-older party includes DJs, burlesque, acrobatics and drag performances. Doors open at 7 p.m. with a $10 cover until 10 p.m., when it bumps to $12.
Or, you can head over to Blush and Blu at 1526 E. Colfax Ave. for a Pride edition of the bar’s monthly queer dance party, Sass Capacity. The party’s host, L.A. Zwicky, will DJ, along with Buddy Bravo. Drag queen Charlie LeFever will be performing. You can also have a photo taken at the artistic photo booth installed by Secret Love Collection. (Warning: This won’t be your grandma’s photo booth.) This party is for 21 and older. Doors open at 8 p.m., and there’s a $5 cover.
