Few songwriters have the stellar track record of John Fogerty, who penned some of the best songs about the American experience in a productive four-year period from 1968 to 1972 as leader of Creedence Clearwater Revival. The songs were topical, terrifically tuneful and offered a perfect hybrid of American roots music. Anyone who saw Fogerty in 2011 rock the Stampede Roundup at Fort Calgary knows that he can still mix political urgency with familiar hooks, offering a nice roundup of his formerband’s many hits and his own solo work. This time around he is headlining the Oxford Stomp at Shaw Millennium Park on Friday, with Melissa Etheridge, the Skydiggers and Barney Bentall in support.
