Introduction of Celebrity Floridan Survey, Rules
- Use Today Florida Network is doing a survey to determine the most famous Floridian.
- A list of 150 famous floridans, including native, residents and those with significant cultural impact has been compiled.
- Readers can send names of people who believe they were omitted from the initial list.
Florida has a long history of attracting the rich, talented and famous, while producing some legends and icons itself.
During the last decades, award -winning actors, legendary athletes, notable iconic and political artists have called Florida “home”, either for a few decades, a few years or some summers.
Some famous Floridans are fees and simply had careers that deeply affected the culture of the state. Others were born here and are proud to represent their native state, such as DoechiiWho recently won his first Grammy and calls himself “Pantano Princess”, as a wink to his roots.
Other famous people born in Florida who surprised in their respective industries include Ariana Grande, Sarah Paulson, Maya Rudolph, Nelly Korda and even the deceased and great Bob Ross.
But with such a fame linked to the State, who is the most famous? It is impossible to quantify, but we are voting.
The Florida Network of the United States. Uu. Today rounded a list of 150 famous floridans: living, dead, natives of Florida, some who owned second or third houses here and even celebrities whose lives affected Florida’s culture.
Since the list was compiled by occupied humans and not by a robot, some very notable names were out. Is there any famous floridans who were disagree? Let us know below!

Our list created by the staff covers a wide range of people and is not limited to only native floridans.
This list includes famous people who once lived here, have second or third house here, and even people whose careers are closely linked to the state of sunlight, such as the deceased, Great Dale Earnhardt, who once owned a house with a pirate theme in Key West and tragically died from injuries in the clash in the Daytona 500 2001.
There will be five voting rounds, which will culminate in a “most famous floridian” title voted by the reader for one of the people on the list.
The first voting round is now closed as of Monday, September 1, and the second voting round will be available on Wednesday, September 3. But in the meantime, feel free to tell us who we lost to the survey below.
Without a doubt, there were some important failures, such as John Travolta, who for a long time owned a house in Ocala and Walt Disney.
Dischanted! Celections with the reader who did not make the list
- Marjorie Merryweather Post-Company of the 1920s, heiress of Cereal y Socialité, who was the original owner of Mar-a-Lago.
- Ernest Hemingway – journalist, novelist and story writer, won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1954, wrote many of his most famous works in his home of Key West
- John F. Kennedy – 35º President of the United States that spent much of his life wintering in Palm Beach, Florida, on his farm in front of the sea.
- John Travolta – The award -winning actor of the fame of “Grease” and “Pulp Fiction” is a long time of Ocala, Florida, resident
- Steve Spurrier – Florida Gators ‘Ball coach’ and winner of the Heisman trophy as a player, born in Miami. He trained Florida Gators football for his first national championship in 1996.
- Hedy Lamarr – American Austrian actress and inventor, spent her last years in Casselberry, Florida, where she died in 2000.
- Billy Donovan – The former New York Knicks player in the NBA, trained the Florida Gators basketball team since 1996-2015, which took them to two National Championships of the NCAA (2006 and 2007).
- Chris Evert: former professional tennis player born in Fort Lauderdale, widely considered one of the most successful players of all time.
- Walt Disney – Animator, film producer, businessman and creator and founder of Disney and Mickey Mouse.
- Johnny Depp – Actor awarded “Edward Scissorhands” and “Pirates of the Caribbean”, spent his formative years raised in Miramar, Florida.
- Henry Flagler – American Industrial of the late nineteenth century to whom the construction of many cities is attributed along the east coast of Florida, particularly in the metropolitan areas of Jacksonville and St. Augustine, died in West Palm Beach in 1913.
- Davy Jones de los Monkees: English actor, singer and songwriter, a member of the band The Monkees, resided in part -time Florida, died in Stuart in 2012.
- OMGITSWICKS – Viral influencer with hundreds of thousands of followers on social media platforms, draw the comedian and master of ceremonies of the Florida man games.
- Mike Huckabee – United States Ambassador to Israel, conservative politician, former governor of Arkansas, owner of a Florida house on the Esmeralda coast for years.
- Rush Limbaugh, conservative political expert who lived in Florida for years, died in Palm Beach in 2021.
- Jennifer López – The award -winning singer and actress of “The Wedding Planner” and “Selena”, has owned several houses in Miami.
- Carol Baskin, founder of Big Cat Rescue Animal Sanctuary, near Tampa, of the fame of “Tiger King”.
- Dan Marino – former NFL field marshal who played 17 seasons with the Miami Dolphins.
- Stephen King – Horror, Thriller and science fiction novelist of “The Shining” and “IT”, has a winter home in Sarasota.
- Donna Summer – The singer and composer of the Grammy Award, “Queen of Disco”, owned several houses in Florida, died in Naples in 2012.
- Jackie Robinson, the first black American to play at the MLB, had his debut in the lower league baseball in Daytona Beach.
Honorary mentions: Faith Hill and Tim McGraw, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and John Gresham, according to reports, owned houses in Destin.
