Brian Daboll has ‘confidence’ in Russell Wilson after the giant offensive.
The giants had the ball twice within the 5, forming a field goal the first time and not scoring the second at all. The game game in these situations reflected its biggest problem in the day. They went, they ran, they pass after having the first and goal in the 1, and Wilson threw four incomplete straight after it was the first and goal of the 3.
Wilson had to deal with an effective pass and led the giants with 44 yards by land. New York runners, however, had only 30 yards in 15 attempts. If Dart can solve some of this is an assumption of anyone. The Mississippi First Round Draft selection was the backup of the giants, with Jameis Winston designated as the third emergency quarter, but New York did not use Dart.
“Russ is our field marshal,” said coach Brian Daboll, whose team had seven or less points five times last season. “I think what you do with your backup is that you make sure you have enough packages. We will see where we are.”
Daboll did not give a particularly strong support when asked if Wilson is still next Sunday against Dallas.
“Yes, I mean we are right after the game,” Daboll said. “I received trust in Ru, we have to do better in general. Coaches, players, around everyone.”
Sometimes, New York’s best offensive idea seemed to be throwing a jump ball to Malik Nabers, but 12 goals for the prominent receiver produced only five trapped for 71 yards, and Nabers seemed to express frustration with Daboll in the lateral line at one time.
“We are two competitive people. We want to give the ball,” Daboll said. “That’s all. Two competitive people understand offensively where we are and where we want to be.”
