Discard Notre Dame football after that loss, let it return to work and be better
When Notre Dame’s football letter cleared South Bend’s airspace on Saturday afternoon, all about what could be 2025 was possible.
When it was scheduled that the Notre football letter gives me clear the airspace of southern Florida on Monday morning, all about what could be 2025 was possible.
Still.
Oh really.
Even later that lose that equipment. It was dark, dark midnight, when the defeat on Sunday 27-24 against Miami (Florida) was 45 minutes to 12. If last season he taught us something about university football, about Notre Dame football is that everything is possible.
“Our boys have a lot of confidence to build,” said Irish coach Marcus Freeman. “There are many things that we did not do well. We will take it. We will return to work.”
Why are the dreams of the National Notre Dame football championship still alive and well?
Notre Dame brought dreams of the National Championship south of Florida during the holiday weekend. I should bring those same dreams to Indiana and beyond. For the first time since 2022, Notre Dame is 0-1. There is a difficult way and much to fix, but as we saw last season, it is a path that Notre Dame can navigate even with innumerable problems to solve.
It is time for Freeman to overcome that game plan and those conversations and that energy and enthusiasm and everything that used to save last season from the ashes that was the defeat of northern Illinois to straighten this season.
A defeat sends a season by side only if a football team allows it. He doesn’t care. He doesn’t care. There is too much invested in this program, too much experience, too much culture to let what happened on Sunday submarine for the next three months.
Texas, better classified, lost on Saturday. Clemsson of sixth classification lost on Saturday. Do you think those teams are not yet worthy of university American football playoffs? Notre Dame can concentrate and fix it. Then grant in the next game. Then the next. See where it leads.
This could still be a great story.
What we saw from Notre Dame Football Saturday was not good enough
Until it is, let notre give me in the national ranking. Push the Irish from Top 10. Write them completely out of the 12 -team university football playoffs. It can be what these Irish need. It was last September.
Does the hard, correct coach choose? The 2025 season and what could and should be for Notre Dame became difficult. The Irish got back in this corner with the way they played and the mistakes they made and the plays that they did not do on Sunday. Give them the opportunity to fight.
Notre Dame has done it once. Can you do it again?
“They never renounce,” Freeman said. “They believe; they trust.”
Do not exaggerate these Irish. Do not promote the CJ Carr Marshal as the second coming of (complete the blank). Do not worry about a seemingly suspicious defense or an offensive line with leaks or too many errors in critical moments. Point to the Irish in the direction of the film room and the field of practice and the weight room and give them the next 11 games to improve. Be better.
What we saw from Notre Dame at the Hard Rock Stadium was not good enough. It is certainly not the top 10. No CFP worthy of good. And not the good national championship. It is not a good Irish standard. Unacceptable, even with a return that almost was.
Trainers like to say that winning is difficult. The Irish simply made it a little more difficult. The margin of error has been reduced. There is fewer margin of maneuver. That can be just what this group wants, it can be what this group needs if it will exceed 2025 the way they maximized 2024.
Choose your eyes and you can barely see the postseason 2025. The game at expected home. The possible goodbye. The deep race. Everything is still in the distance.
Here is the list of punching of week 1 of Notre Dame football to improve
Let’s not be naive. There are problems. There are concerns. Start in the offensive, where all Americans are All-American, Jeremiyah Love Jeremiyah, ended with 33 yards in 10 hauling. Good numbers: for a room. No matter what the next 11 games for Notre Dame. This season does not go anywhere if love hastened for 33 yards in 10 hauling. Feed it. Ride it. Andarrate yourself with this path and on the next way and in the next.
Job one? Make love get more involved. It wasn’t so much on Sunday, and it was demonstrated. Carr can be good in the coming years, but in that environment, that night, he needed someone who has been there and did that. Love certainly qualifies.
And we lost a new rule that makes illegal launch a pass beyond three yards beyond the scrimmage line? Becoming comfortable early with fast/high percentage releases was a solid start, but Notre Dame waited too much for him to look through the field.
It is difficult to know what hurts this powerful weekend of university football opening. That Notre Dame must absorb it and support Miami (Fla) to be good this season to maintain Sunday loss a quality or that a former Notre Dame football coach did something that Notre Dame could not do: win a crusher of a road game against an opponent of the Atlantic coast conference.
Do not take into account what old friend Brian Kelly and LSU did in Clemson on Saturday night. Worry about what this notre team should do under this chief coach to return to where everyone believes that this program can go. What can still be.
Everything is still feasible.
