Iowa state, Baylor Big Week 2 winners
Week 2 of the Big 12 2025 football season is made and dusty. There is no Monday night game like last week, so our power classifications do not have to wait for an extra day.
The biggest surprise of the weekend came with the defeat of the state of Kansas to the army and the loss of West Virginia against Ohio, while the rest of the conference mainly hit the lower opponents. However, there were very notable high profile competitions.
Specifically, those were Iowa State and Baylor, who won clashes against talented rivals in the state. The cyclones knocked Iowa at home to win their second Cy-Hawk trophy, while the bears knocked SMU on the road in an absolute thriller.
The losses of week 2 of the state of Arizona, Kansas and Kansas State would damage the general state of the conference, which seeks to have multiple teams in the university football playoff.
So, as we continue to obtain more about each Big 12 program, here are our latest classifications of conference power.
16. Oklahoma State Cowboys (1-1, 0-0 Big 12)
Result of week 2: 69-3 defeat Oregon number 5
Previous range: No. 15 (below 1)
Analysis: The cowboys were beaten in the mouth by Oregon’s ducks, and still seem far from the contest.
15. West Virginia Mountaineers (1-1, 0-0 Big 12)
Result of week 2: 17-10 defeat against Ohio
Previous range: No. 14 (below 1)
Analysis: West Virginia lost to a Mac team on the road, and at this time, that seems that the level that mountaineers are at.
14. UCF Knights (2-0, 0-0 Big 12)
Result of week 2: 68-7 Victoria over North Carolina A&T
Previous range: No. 16 (above 2)
Analysis: With much, the worst 2-0 team in Big 12. The gentlemen have not played anyone and have almost lost to Jacksonville State in week 1.
13. Arizona Wildcats (2-0, 0-0 Big 12)
Result of week 2: 48-3 win over Weber State
Previous range: No. 13 (without change)
Analysis: Brent Brennan has his Montesses cats doing what they should against much lower opponents, but the real Teline will come later in the year against the best teams in the Big 12.
12. Kansas State Wildcats (1-2, 0-1 Big 12)
Result of week 2: 24-21 defeat the army
Previous range: No. 9 (below 3)
Analysis: Kansas State has been the greatest disappointment so far this year. A careless loss to the state of Iowa in Dublin, followed by a close loss last week against North Dakota, was only the beginning. This week, it was another disappointing action, since the team lost to the Army despite winning only 246 total offensive yards.
11. Cincinnati Bearcats (1-1, 0-0 Big 12)
Result of week 2: 34-20 Victoria over Bowling Green
Previous range: No. 11 (without change)
Analysis: Cincinnati field marshal, Brendan Sorsby, was against Bowling Green, launching for 333 yards and three touchdowns. However, the defense of the Bearcats left a little to be desired, even giving 372 yards.
Result of week 2: 31-7 win over Delaware
Previous range: No. 10 (without change)
Analysis: The buffs experienced with three different quarterbacks, and despite the victory, the operation was not entirely scarcenorth. A Big 12 confrontation against Houston next week seems to be another test for Colorado.
9. Houston Couars (2-0, 0-0 Big 12)
Result of week 2: 35-9 win over rice
Previous range: No. 12 (above 3)
Analysis: The Coupars continued their beginning of the 2025 season by knocking down rice on the road. Houston’s defense was successful, only gave 228 total yards, which included only 51 air yards.
8. Kansas Jayhawks (2-1, 0-0 Big 12)
Result of week 2: 42-31 defeat against Missouri
Previous range: No. 5 (below 3)
Analysis: Kansas rose 21-6 after the first quarter against his rival Missouri, but his defense hesitated big. The Jayhawks have been good, but they took a small step back last weekend.
7. Ranas with TCU horns (1-0, 0-0 Big 12)
Result of week 2: Bye
Previous range: No. 7 (without change)
Analysis: After beating North Carolina to open the year, cornudas frogs have a free week.
6. Byu Cours (2-0, 0-0 Big 12)
Result of week 2: 27-3 Victoria over Stanford
Previous range: No. 8 (above 2)
Analysis: He was an skeptic of Byu to start the year, but so far, his hurried attack and his defense are the real business. The Cougars pass offensive is still a question and something to observe as competition increases.
Result of week 2: 48-45 Victoria over No. 16 SMU
Previous range: No. 7 (above 2)
Analysis: Baylor greatly played the most exciting big 12 game of the weekend, achieving the extra two -time victory against a classified SMU team.
4. Arizona State Sun Devils (1-1, 0-0 Big 12)
Result of week 2: 24-20 defeat the state of Mississippi
Previous range: No. 2 (below 2)
Analysis: The state of Arizona could not go to the road and win in a sec environment. The defending champions do not look so strong earlier this season.
3. Utah UTES (2-0, 0-0 Big 12)
Result of week 2: 63-9 Win over Cal Poly
Previous range: No. 4 (above 1)
Analysis: The UTES now have the coaching staff and an elite field marshal in Devon Dampier to support a career in the conference title.
2. Texas Tech Red Raiders (2-0, 0-0 Big 12)
Result of week 2: 62-14 Victoria over Kent State
Previous range: No. 3 (above 1)
Analysis: Texas Tech demolished Kent State with the field marshal of the Reders, Behren Morton, leading the highest score offensive in the Big 12.
Result of week 2: 16-13 win over Iowa
Previous range: No. 1 (without change)
Analysis: I put the cyclones at number 1 after their 55 -point performance last week against Dakota del Sur, and I’m glad I have done it. They look like the most complete team in Big 12 after winning a defensive fight against the Iowa archirival.
