Jalen Carter de Eagles avoids a greater suspension, it is fined by NFL – NBC Sports Philadelphia

The defensive Tackle of the Eagles, Jalen Carter, will be in the field for week 2 against the Chiefs.

The NFL will no longer suspend the Pro Bowler after spitting the Cowboys Marshal, Dak Prescott, on Thursday night before playing a single SNAP in the victory of week 1 of the Eagles.

Carter, 24, has been fined $ 57,222 for the League, which is equivalent to a game check. Basically, Carter receives credit for the time sympathy because he was expelled so early on Thursday night.

Here is the NFL full press release:

“Jalen Carter of the Philadelphia Eagles has been suspended without pay for a game for her act of unsportsmanlike behavior in the game last Thursday against the Dallas Cowboys. Because Carter was disqualified before participating in a single play, it is considered that the suspension has been served in week 1 and will lose her game control.

“The NFL players association has informed the NFL that Carter will not dispute the discipline and has renounced its right to appeal. It is eligible to participate in the game of week 2 of the club against the heads of Kansas City.

“The rules of the league that prohibit antideportic behavior are of vital importance for all those involved in the game. The NFL has been clear with the players, clubs and the NFLPA that plans to put special emphasis on sportsmanship this season.”

It is clear that the NFL is trying to establish a precedent for the future discipline that a suspension is on the table for such actions.

It is not clear if the Eagles will discipline Carter on their own. Chief coach Nick Sirianni said he would maintain any discipline at home, even if we will see the result in the field on Sunday.

The incident between Carter and Prescott occurred after the initial start in the Linc. While the Fullback and Special Eagles team, Ben Vansumeren, waited for a car to take it out of the field due to a knee injury, Carter and Prescott had words. Prescott spit in the direction of Carter and then Carter intensified the incident and spit to the Cowboys Marshal.

“It was a mistake that happened on my side and it will simply happen again,” Carter said. “I feel bad just for my teammates and fans. I am doing it for them. I am also doing it for my family. But the fans showed the greatest love. You heard them today.

“Simply not being able to finish the … Start the game even, the game ends … we will get it better. It will not happen again. I can do that promise.”

Carter, a first round of 2023, was a professional bowling player in his second NFL season in 2025. It will be eligible for a contract extension after the 2025 season.
