This series is expected to be a close fighting contest under the captaincy of Ben Stokes and with Brendon McCullum as a coach despite the previous hammers for England in the Australian floor in 2013-14, 2017-18 and 2021-22 when tourists failed to win a single match.

He told us: “Obviously it is a great series. England is in a decent place and had some good stages of play throughout the summer against India.

“They could have easily won 4-0, like India. There were good results of both teams and I can see a 2-2 in that last game in Australia.

“I can see a very closed series with not much to separate the two teams.”

“There are a couple of places that are not sure. If they are in that mentality, that can only be beneficial for England.

“In my opinion, there are a couple of areas to explode.”
