Twitter might soon slide encryption into your DMs

Twitter’s Direct Messages feature is good for privately contacting people on your timeline, but it’s not entirely secure, as the contents of your correspondence could be accessed by hackers who can breach Twitter’s network, or by governments who coerce the company to release them for investigations. Now, TechCrunch reports that a fix might be on its way: a peek into an installer for Twitter’s Android app revealed a ‘Secret conversation’ feature with encryption keys – indicating that the company might be planning to launch encrypted DMs soon. Its spokesperson has declined to comment, so we don’t yet know whether the… This story continues at The Next Web Or just read… Read More

A US-funded think tank dropped a speaker working for China’s secretive overseas influence arm, which shows how the nation is struggling to deal with foreign interference

A US think tank appears to have dropped a speaker, who works for the Chinese Communist Party’s influence arm, from an event talking about China’s “exaggerated” influence. The Wilson Center knew the work done by Huiyao Wang but did not disclose the information when promoting the event. The change to the event line-up was noticed by Business Insider and seems to have occurred after Foreign Policy reported Marco Rubio sent a letter to the think tank about the issue. His first full-length play, Visitors, focused on an elderly couple living on a farm on the edge of Salisbury Plain. His 2017 play, Echo’s End, was set in the early 20th century, but also in – you guessed it –… Read More

While the primary targets of this attack — which hit some 400 sites — are US-based government entities and educational institutes, multiple tech firms’ sites have also been infected with the virus. A list of affected websites compiled by Mursch include those of the US National Labor… This story continues at The Next Web …read more Source::… Read More
