Key dates

  • The pre -season HBCU power classification of NCAA.com will be launched in Friday, August 1.
  • The HBCU 2025 football season begins with the Meac/Swac challenge in Saturday, August 23.
  • The 2025 FCS playoffs begin on the weekend of Saturday, November 29.
  • The 2025 swac soccer championship game is in Saturday, December 6.
  • The 2025 HBCU football season concludes with the Bowl Celebration On Saturday, December 13.

📚 Basic HBCU football concepts

There are 21 football programs in historically black schools and universities (HBCU) at the FCS level. FCS HBCU football programs play mainly at the Athletic Conference of the Middle East (MEAC) or the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC).
